Lent Challenge

Hey everyone,

Just a reminder that we are starting the Lent challenge this Wednesday. What is the “Lent Challenge” you ask? Well, allow us to explain:

Lent is an early-Christian tradition where followers of Christ voluntarily abstain and/or fast from particular foods/practices during the forty day period leading up to Easter. While this is not required as a Christian, it can be a beneficial practice in self-control and sacrifice to God. Thus the challenge is to think of something (or somethings) that you can give up for the forty days leading up to Easter!

That’s the basic gist. So the question is, what are you giving up for the Lent Challenge? Let us know in the comments what it is so we can cheer you on and keep you accountable!

Friends and family are invited to join along too. Maybe you give something up as a family! We’ll check in for updates as the challenge goes on. Good luck and God Bless!

I'm giving up all pop for Lent. That won't be easy since I'm usually slugging a couple a day. Here's hoping!

I'm giving up shopping (the actual act of spending money while shopping or browsing)... and no, getting gas does not count as shopping (neither do birthday presents).

Now all I need to do is convince myself that those new shoes really can wait until after Easter...

Yay Kirsten! We'll be here to drag you away from the stores... :)
I guess I'm not technically giving up something - I'm going to try to add a half-hour of physical activity to my daily routine. (pathetic, I know, but at this point I'm practically a sedentary being)

I am going to give up surfing the internet from my Blackberry. I think I need to find time to unplug a bit and this will be a good first step. :)
