Feed My Starving Children - Early Sign Up

Hey World-Changers, this one's for you.
We're heading to Feed My Starving Children to package food on Tuesday, November 20. Trips to FMSC have always been a blast and this one is sure to be the same. We're going to take 2 hours to feed hundreds and hundreds of people.

If you're scratching your head, here's the deal: Feed My Starving Children is an international organization that packages nutritional meals right here in lovely Minnesota and then sends them all over the world to starving families in third-world countries! Pretty sweet, right?
So that means that even though we can't travel to dozens of countries in one night, we can still make a difference in them! Plus we get to have fun by doing it together, you can't lose!
We've got limited space, so you're going to have to sign up quick to be sure you get a spot. But for thefaithful readers of The Update, I'm giving you a head start. If you click here you can head over and sign up now, getting in ahead of those who wait until weekends to catch up on Student Life goodness.

Feeling Appreciated

Since yesterday was the last day of "Pastor Appreciation Month" I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your kind words and encouragement over the past weeks. I enjoy the support that Northwood has for it's staff and the many ways that it is shown. Katie and I are both very excited to be here, and we are glad to see the same is true for many you. So for the cards, comments, and gifts... thanks!

We're "Friend-Friendly" at NSL

Today is a very exciting day for Northwood Student Life because it kicks off a full month of “friend-friendly” activities.

“What are friend-friendly events?” you ask, thinking I stuttered.

“Why, friend-friendly events are features your fun friends should find fun for they are friend-friendly or them!” I say, gleefully.

“Huh?” you say, looking at me like I am some guy who just escaped the loony-bin.

Let me explain.

Over the next month all of our special events are designed to be great things for your friends, or anybody who isn’t a regular part of Northwood Student Life, to come and check out what we’re about. Sometimes we do retreats or other activities that might be overwhelming if you’ve never been to youth group. So from time to time we do events that make it easier to introduce a person to what NSL is all about (which is Jesus, and the fact that he rocks). So warm up those inviting vocal cards and start bringing those pals of yours that you always say you should bring to youth group sometime!

Here are the events:

Halloween Hayride – October 31
Girls Night Out (girls only, duh) – November 10
Halo Party (guys only) – November 16
Feed My Starving Children (space limited) – November 20
Nerd Skate Night – December 1

If you have any questions, need invites, or whatever… drop me a line and I’ll hook you up. I look forward to meeting the new faces you’ll bring.

Parent's Meeting - October 24

Hey Parents!

You're invited to our fall Parent's Meeting on Wednesday, October 24 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Anderson's Home (map below).
We'll be talking about how Student Life is going, the current changes, and the year ahead. It's a great time to bring your questions, meet other parents, and hear about what your teens are doing at Northwood Church. Meanwhile the students will hang with our awesome youth leaders. I look forward to seeing you there!

-Luke
