Video Update

After a 36 hour marathon of technical difficulties we finally have this week’s Video Update ready for your viewing. Enjoy!

Nerd Night Poll – Cast Your Vote!

Nerd Night is one of the annual traditions for Northwood Student Life. Each year we dress up like nerds (which doesn't take much effort for some of us) and find something fun to do.
[Check out video from the first ever Nerd Night]

This year we are leaving it up to you what we do at our Nerd Night on Saturday, January 24. We could repeat an activity we've done before with Bowling or Roller Skating, or you can come up with your own activity!

So vote for your favorite or suggest a new activity, voting ends Sunday night and we'll fill you all in about it on The Update next week.

Jesus Saves, but Luke didn’t

I was working to get The Video Update episode out on time today, but after a series of events that I’d rather not talk about at the moment, it is 1 in the morning and I’m not much closer to having it done. So I will awake tomorrow, have some strong coffee, and try and get it published before school is out. In the meanwhile there are a few things to let you know about.

  • Tonight is the first night with the new start time for The Gathering. We begin at 7pm and finish at the same time of 8:30pm.
  • We are taking a poll to decide what to do for this year’s Nerd Night on January 24 (note date change). [click here to cast your vote]
  • This Sunday is Bring Your Buck Sunday… again. (The video will explain)

Like I said, the video should be online tomorrow. Now, I’m going to put on my PJs, climb into bed, and dream of vengeful things I could do to my computer.

New Year’s Party Pics online

NSL brought in the New Year last week with a party at the Trouten’s home. Kirsten was kind enough to take some pictures of the party, which are now online over at the NSL Flickr page. Check ‘em out.

Pray for Kathy

kenyadigit

Our very own Kathy (Sr. High Leader) is heading to Kenya on Sunday for a 2 week mission trip. She, along with 5 other Northwooders, are going to be doing all sorts of great stuff to learn about the culture near Nairobi and do all they can to be servants to them in the name of Jesus Christ.

It’s a really exciting opportunity, and a first for Northwood Church, please be praying for Kathy and the team while they are gone.

You can also follow their journeys on the Kenya Mission Team blog. Check it out!

Letter 2 Yourself

Each year at the New Year’s Party everyone is invited to write a letter to themselves. Those letters are then sealed up, and they get mailed back to you a year later, many of you should have gotten those letters last week.

We did the same thing this year, but I want to give everybody a chance to participate, it’s a pretty sweet experience to see what you were going through a year ago and what has happened since. There are a few ways you can participate.

1) Download the page to write your letter, write it, and bring it with on Sunday in an envelope with your address.

2) Get a copy of the page and an envelope on Sunday and bring it back to The Table or The Gathering.

3) Fill out this form and submit it, your letter will then be printed and put in an envelope to be sent back to you at the end of the year.

This can be a very insightful experience, but it all depends on what you write, the more you explain your feelings about things now, the more you’ll be able to see the change in the coming year. Enjoy!
